Today was a big day for both Anna and Ben. Anna started her first day of kindergarten and Ben started his first day of 3 year old preschool at Mary Queen school. Anna was VERY excited to start today! Ben wasn't as enthusiastic but he didn't have any problems when I dropped him off.
Anna's teachers are Mrs. Rukavina and Mrs. Roth. She is lucky to have two teachers, one with a master's degree and one with a baccalaureate degree. Anna's teachers have been working together for 15 years now at Mary Queen so I think Anna will be in good hands. Anna's kindergarten is a mix of traditional and Montessori teaching. In addition to reading/writing and math, Anna will be taking Spanish, computers, guidance, music and liturgical music, science, social studies, religion and gym. She's going to be busy! There are 16 children in Anna's class this year.
Ben's teachers are Mrs. Emnet and Mrs. O'Dwyer. There are only 7 children in Ben's preschool class so he will be getting a lot of attention. I think Ben has already stole Mrs. Emnet's heart =). He is certainly a very sweet child. I know Anna and Ben thought it was pretty neat seeing each other at school today!
In addition to school, Anna will continue on with dance this school year. She will be in a combo class of ballet, tap and jazz. I think preschool is enough for Ben right now so besides school he will just be hanging out with mommy.
I will be coaching "Girls on the Run" at Mary Queen this year. The program will be new to the school and I hope we can get it off the ground there. Anna is too young for the program but because mom is the coach she will be an honorary team member =). I am also going to be volunteering in the Health Room ... fun for me =).
The weather has been beautiful here lately and was just perfect for the kids first day of school today. Hopefully the humidity will stay away!
